2 Year Old in Critical Condition After Car Accident

A two-year-old girl is in critical condition thanks to the reckless driver that not only hit the car she was in but fled the scene after.

The accident occurred on Fairfield Road in High Point, sending the grandparents to the emergency room as well. Police were finally able to identify the driver as being John Jamie Kennedy, 40, who was driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs when he hit their Mercury Tracer.

He then turned this already terrible accident into a hit-and-run by leaving the scene. Kennedy now faces several charges including possession of a stolen motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, failure to reduce speed to avoid a collision, driving with a revoked license, driving while impaired, three counts of hit-and-run, felony serious injury by a motor vehicle, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

At this time the child is listed as being in critical condition at Brenner Children's Hospital. Kennedy is being held on $85,000 bail at the Guildford County Jail.
