North Carolina Train Derails

In Mebane, North Carolina, it is reported that a large commuter train derailed.  According to reports, the train was transporting 36 passengers.  Of the 36 people riding the train, 13 sustained injuries as the locomotive caught on fire.

Police say that the train struck a trailer that was crossing earlier in the week.  The train runs daily between Charlotte and Raleigh and is operated by Amtrak.  Long-distance commutes between Charlotte and New York will most likely be disrupted due to the accident.

After the accident, Amtrak said that 12 passengers were injured along with one crew member.  All of the injured parties were taken to a nearby hospital.  There were no deaths.

If you have been involved in an accident, such as an auto accident, it is a good idea to discuss your legal options with a personal injury lawyer.  An attorney can review your case and provide you with strategic legal insight as well as guidance.
