A young girl, S.M., whose mother was killed in a car crash four years ago was officially adopted by her grandmother recently. S.M., now eight years old, had been in her grandmother's care since the tragic accident. The little girl was a passenger in a minivan her mother was driving on an expressway when she was four years old. A drunk driver got on the expressway going the wrong direction and slammed into the minivan at 80 miles per hour. The head on collision killed S.M.'s mother and left her with very serious injuries. Both of her legs and arms were crushed and she suffered severe head trauma and pelvic fractures. The drunk driver was not seriously injured. If you or a loved one was seriously injured in a head on collision or other type of auto crash in the Tampa Bay area that was someone else's fault then speak with a Tampa car accident attorney as soon as possible!
Little Girl Needs Continued Surgery for Head Trauma
Although S.M.'s arms, pelvis and legs have healed she still requires continued surgery for head trauma caused by the accident. Skull and eye socket fractures have resulted in a degree of brain trauma and the girl has undergone several surgeries over the years as she continues to heal and grow. She is scheduled to have more surgery later in the year. The now 29-year-old female drunk driver that ran into the minivan is serving a 15 year prison sentence for DUI resulting in serious injury and fatality.
