Wrong-Way Driver involved in Fatal Car Wreck

One person was killed and another seriously injured in a severe vehicle collision recently. The accident happened near 4:00 in the morning on a recent Friday when a woman was traveling the wrong way on a highway. The 29-year-old woman was driving a silver minivan east on the westbound side of the highway when she crashed head-on into a man driving a compact sedan. Emergency rescue and police arrived quickly on the scene where both drivers were found to be in critical condition—both cars were mangled with front end damage. Traffic in both sides of the highway was shut down so a medical helicopter could land and take both injured drivers to the hospital. Neither vehicle had any passengers. Tragically, the male driver of the sedan, 31 years old, died while in the helicopter on the way to the hospital. Crash investigators are looking into the fatal car wreck to try and determine how or why the woman got on the highway going the wrong direction.
