Driver in Fatal Pedestrian Accident Identified

By Lowey Law Firm  Sep. 17, 2012 12:56p

The search for the driver in a deadly hit and run accident came to an end when the driver returned to the scene about an hour after the incident. Around 1:30 in the morning on a recent weekend night a 23-year-old woman was reportedly walking in the road when she was struck by a car. The driver of the vehicle, 27-year-old R.R., left the scene without stopping to render aid. The female driver came back about an hour later to where the accident happened to find police and other authorities at the scene. She told Austin police that she had tried to avoid hitting the woman walking in the road but was unable to swerve around her enough to miss. She said she panicked and drove to a nearby parking lot where she called a family member who convinced her to return to the scene of the accident. The victim in the crash was dead when authorities found her in the road. Were you injured in a pedestrian accident or lose a loved one in an incident that was not their fault? Don't hesitate to speak with a personal injury lawyer about your case.

Police stated that R.R. was not intoxicated nor did she have any other reason to run from the scene or avoid police. She had a valid driver's license, proper insurance, no outstanding warrants or other factors which ordinarily may cause someone to leave such an accident scene. The investigation into the case is ongoing. There have been no statements as yet indicated the exact cause of death and whether or not the victim may possibly have lived if immediate aid had been rendered.
