No Deathless Days in 2011 on Texas Roads

According to the Texas Department of Transportation, there were no days throughout the year of 2011 that did not see traffic fatalities. Per its annual report, Texas DOT figures showed 3,015 deaths on the roads and highways of the state last year. This was a slight decrease from the previous year. Those drivers who were the most likely to die in such accidents were males between the ages of 18 and 22. Passengers most likely to be killed in such crashes were males between the ages of 18 and 24. The leading contributing factors to Texas car crashes were a failure to control one's speed, driver inattention, unsafe speed, improper lane changes, failure to drive in a single lane, failure to yield, following too closely, and driving while under the influence of alcohol. The majority of all traffic accidents in Texas occur in urban areas, such as Houston, Dallas, Fort Worth, San Antonio, and Austin.
