A woman working as a crossing guard at a crosswalk in front of a local elementary school survived a serious car accident that occurred on a recent afternoon. The crossing guard was in the crosswalk when a car making an illegal right turn struck her. The impact sent the woman up onto the hood of the car. No students were reported to have been injured in the incident. Police and emergency medical responders arrived promptly on the scene. The crossing guard was seriously injured but conscious and able to talk with the emergency responders. She was taken by ambulance to a local hospital. Her current condition was not stated. The driver of the car that struck the woman was not taken into custody but police did cite him for making an illegal turn. There was no information concerning whether or not legal actions would be taken to pursue an injury claim. Have you been hurt while on the job? Workplace Accidents Can Result in Severe Injuries

Workplace accidents include any incident where an employee is hurt while conducting work duties. This can include car accidents while making a delivery or hauling materials, slips or falls at the workplace, pedestrian accidents, injuries caused by falling items, injuries caused by defective or malfunctioning machinery, negligence on the part of a co-worker and many others. The types of injuries that can be sustained often vary with the type of employment. Employees at a construction site or oil refinery for example may be at risk for much more serious injuries and that is why it is so crucial that employers and employees alike ensure that safety regulations are upheld. Recklessness, negligence and carelessness by a co-worker, manager, owner or other individual on the job can result in serious injury accidents involving burns, electrocution, broken bones, head trauma, brain injury, contusions, amputation, spinal cord injuries, internal injuries, paralysis or death.
