Stolen Vehicle involved in Fatal Injury Wreck

Dallas authorities are trying to locate the driver of a stolen vehicle that was involved in a crash with another car resulting in the death of a 13-year-old boy. The incident began on a recent weekday morning shortly after 8:00am when a police officer spotted a minivan that had been reported as stolen several weeks ago. The officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the driver refused to pull over and sped away. The officer pursued the minivan but broke off the pursuit when the driver went into a residential area at a high rate of speed. The minivan driver was making erratic maneuvers and the officer decided that continuing the chase would be too dangerous. The minivan continued through the Highland Park area and went through an intersection without stopping for the posted stop sign. The vehicle struck a small car that was occupied by a 13-year-old boy and his mother. Other drivers stopped to render aid but the driver of the minivan ran away from the crash scene on foot. Police and emergency medical services soon arrived and took the mother and son to the hospital. The boy had suffered a number of very serious injuries and did not survive. He was pronounced dead on arrival at the hospital. His mother was listed as being in critical condition. Authorities are continuing to search for the male driver of the minivan who faces the possibility of a capital murder charge since the fatal accident occurred during the commission of a felony. Consult with a personal injury attorney if you have a case involving criminal negligence or a car accident that was not your fault.
