Accident Leaves Houston Victims Trapped In Wreckage

In the aftermath of a late night automobile accident, law enforcement officials say they are investigating the incident and are seeking the whereabouts and identity of the driver responsible.

The collision occurred, according to statements made by police and announced to reporters, at approximately three in the morning early Sunday. The accident was the result of a blue car running a red light and colliding violently into the side of another vehicle at the intersection on Gufton Street and Renwick Drive in Houston. The victims were passing through the intersection when the driver in the blue car failed to stop at the light.

Both the man and the woman were injured in the accident. They were reportedly trapped inside the vehicle and unable to extricate themselves from the remains of the car. Both victims had to be removed from the wreckage by a team of fire fighters with the Houston Fire Department.

Emergency response units arrived swiftly at the scene of the crash, transporting the man to Ben Taub General Hospital. The woman was taken Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center for treatment. Both victims have been reported as being in stable condition, though it is not yet clear how extensive their injuries may be.

According to the police report, the driver in the blue car was missing from the other vehicle. Witnesses to the accident say that the suspect jumped out of his or her car and fled the crime scene on foot.

Police say they are investigating the incident but that they have not made any arrests. It is not known whether the driver was intoxicated at the time of the collision.
