An Active Year for Recalling Children’s Products

Last year numerous children's products were actively recalled and according to The Consumer Product Safety Commission; the agency had to recall two hundred and thirty different products designed for infants and children, a 63% increase over 2009. Strollers, baby carriers and cribs were the largest offenders and were responsible for several fatalities.

Medication Recalls Also a Problem

Several popular children's medications were also recalled including Johnson & Johnson's Children's Tylenol. Safety Commission Bans Drop Side Cribs

By investigating the children's products recalls from last year it was determined that the majority of recalls were related to cribs, especially the cribs that drop on the side (drop side cribs.) There were so many recalls (over two million were recalled in the month of June alone) that the Consumer Product Safety Commission banned drop cribs and they can no longer be sold, manufactured, imported or distributed in the U.S. These new laws extend in application to hotels and motels, child care centers and other locations that might have need for cribs.
