Woman Drives Mother To Hospital, Crashes Into Tree
While attempting to take her mother to a hospital to have surgery performed on her eye Thursday morning, a woman lost control of her vehicle and collided with a tree. The Houston police department is investigating the incident, though they believe initially that the crash may have been the result of a seizure on the part of the driver.
The accident is alleged to have occurred early in the morning Thursday, April 14th. The victims of the crash were a woman and her mother, who were driving to the Memorial Hermann hospital, were the mother was scheduled to receive eye surgery later that day. The crash is believed to have happened at about 5 am, at Richmond and S. Dairy Ashford.
When emergency responders arrived on the scene, they discovered that the driver was pinned inside the vehicle, but were eventually able to extricate her. The mother was taken immediately via ambulance to the hospital, and the woman had to be airlifted to the hospital by helicopter once she was freed from the vehicle. Both she and her mother were reported as being seriously injured, though their current status is unknown at this time.
The initial investigation by HPD officers has indicated that the woman suffered a seizure that made her lose control of the car and crash into the tree.
