The Century Council, (Distillers Fighting Drunk Driving and Underage Drinking) compiles statistics concerning those who drink and drive in every state. Per this group's statistics for Florida, alcohol-related fatalities per 100,000 people in the state has decreased overall in the last ten years by 36.9 percent while the ten-year change in underage drinking has seen a decline of 48.2 percent per 100,000 people. In the year 2010, 660 individuals lost their lives in alcohol-impaired traffic accidents while 69 individuals under the age of 21 were killed due to alcohol-related crashes. One startling statistic was the percentage of alcohol-related fatalities involving high blood alcohol concentrations (BAC); 68.5 percent of all fatalities involved a BAC of .15 or more. The legal limit in Florida is .08 percent BAC.

78.6 percent of repeat offenders involved in alcohol-related fatal traffic accidents also had a BAC of .15 percent or more. In 2010, a total of 52,346 drunk driving arrests were made in the state, although the data received by the Century Council was considered incomplete or limited. According to the Florida Traffic Crash Statistics Report published by the state, overall traffic accidents and fatalities have decreased in the past years. Fatalities of motorcyclists and their passengers, bicyclists, and teen drivers and their passengers increased, however, between 2010 and 2011.
