Local Kansas City Minister Dies After January Automobile Accident

After spending months in a coma in the care of a Kansas City hospital, the victim of a tragic car accident passed away in late November. The victim is identified as a 45-year-old Missouri native, born in Raytown, who worked as a local minister. According to the initial reports filed by law enforcement officials in the aftermath of the January incident, the man was struck by a trailer that had come loose from another vehicle.

On the evening of January 6th, the minister was in his pickup truck, heading westbound on Highway 10, not far from De Soto. According to troopers with the Kansas Highway Patrol, he was severely injured as a result of the collision, which occurred near the intersection with Lexington Avenue.

Month-Long Coma Ends In Death In Kansas City Hospital

In the wake of the collision, highway patrolmen shut down the roadway and investigated the matter. They discerned that the fault lay with a driver who was traveling the opposite direction, who had failed to properly secure the trailer to his pickup. The man, who lives in Lawrence, was ticketed for his negligence in the matter, but did not face criminal charges for his actions.

After being taken to a nearby hospital in Kansas City, the minister slipped into a coma. He had remained there for almost an entire year, before finally succumbing to his injuries on November 28th. Officials with the Kansas City Highway Patrol say they plan to take steps to prevent further injury along this stretch of road, which has taken several lives in the past few years. They hope to install a median to divide the lanes in an effort to prevent further fatalities.
