The state makes it illegal for drivers under 21 to drive with a blood alcohol level of .02 percent or above. Last week, a 25 year-old man was killed as a passenger in a pickup truck driven by an impaired driver in Allen Parish who ran off the road and struck a utility pole. The 18 year-old driver was also injured. He faces charges of vehicular homicide, driving while intoxicated, careless operation, and failure to wear a seatbelt.
