Tow Truck Driver Killed while on the Job

A St. Louis tow truck driver working for AAA was on his last service call for the evening when the fatal accident occurred. The 51-year-old man was stopped on Interstate 70 and had been assisting a motorist. He was outside his truck at around 9:15 pm, wearing his day glow reflective safety vest, apparently setting flares near the road while helping out the troubled motorist. He was struck by a vehicle traveling on the highway and fatally injured. The driver of the vehicle that hit the tow truck driver fled the accident. Emergency responders arrived on the location and pronounced the man dead at the scene. St. Louis Police were able to locate the suspected hit and run driver a short time later and take the individual into custody.
