Colorado Fire Sweeps Through State, Burns Homes

Natural disasters are sometimes unpreventable, such as the violent, charring brush fire that is sweeping though Colorado at present. The fire has caused the area around Colorado Springs to be evacuated, and more than 1,000 people are currently fighting the blaze. The blaze has caused almost 32,000 residents in the state to flee their homes, and President Obama is coming to visit the Colorado Springs area to view the damage and thank emergency personnel.

The temperatures were lower and winds were calmer this morning, but the 65 mph winds yesterday caused the flames to surge. In addition, the flames licked the edge of the city of Colorado Springs. The fire has consumed about 15,375 acres in total, which is about 24 square miles. However, the winds have driven the blaze towards the city, and many firefighters are working to make sure that the blaze steers clear of residencies.

About 1.5 million acres in the United States have currently been consumed by fire this year. Various fires are raging in the state, including a Waldo Canyon fire that will put many people in danger. The largest blaze is a High Park fire that is near Fort Collins. That fire has burned more than 87,000 acres at present and destroyed 257 words. About 4,300 people have been forced to flee their homes because of the blaze, and the flames are now moving towards the Roosevelt National Forest.

Allegedly, one woman has been killed in the fires. If you were injured in a fire because the police and fire departments failed to insist on evacuation, then you would have grounds for a personal injury lawsuit. While this is rare, there are times that the departments forget about remote residencies, and leave occupants at risk to losing their life. Contact a personal injury attorney if you want more information about how to seek damages.
