Two Pedestrians Struck by Driver

Tragedy struck in Galveston a few days ago when a car not only drove off the seawall, but hit two pedestrians in the process.

According to police, someone who witnessed the accident was able to locate an officer just moments after it happened. When they arrived on the scene, they found two bodies lying in the road. One of the victims, a 34-year-old woman, was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim, a 36-year-old man, was brought to a local hospital in critical condition. At this time, the authorities are not releasing the identity of the victims until their next-of-kin have been notified.

As for the driver of the car, alcohol is suspected to be a major factor in the accident. The 29-year-old male refused to take a field sobriety test, so he was arrested and charged instead with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, manslaughter and DUI.
