Tractor Trailer Slams Into Slowed Vehicles

An interstate driver's worst nightmare came true last weekend when a tractor trailer slammed into slowed vehicles, causing a fatal accident.

Officers from the North Carolina Highway Patrol spent most of last Thursday responding to a tractor trailer truck accident that happened on Interstate 40. Initial reports show that traffic had slowed down significantly on the highway, but the tractor trailer did not realize the delay.

The driver that caused the collision maintained his speed of 65 mph when he slammed into the back of a truck going about 5 mph. What happened next was a fiery chain reaction as one vehicle slammed into another to accommodate the force of the impact.

As a result of the truck accident, three adults lost their lives, as they were unable to maneuver out of the way of the tractor trailer in time.  The driver has since been charged with possessing drugs (methadone and marijuana), driving while impaired, and felony death by vehicle.
