One Killed and One Injured in Soap Lake Accident

In Ephrata, local police officers are investigating a car accident involving a single vehicle which killed one person and led to another suffering serious injuries.

At approximately 5:49 AM, emergency response crews were dispatched to County Road 20-NE which is just three miles away from Soap Lake.

After their preliminary investigation, officers determined that the westbound vehicle exited the roadway on the north side and struck a driveway culvert. Both occupants inside of the car were ejected because they were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. Officers have reason to believe that speed and alcohol both played a role in the accident and have plans to continue their investigations.

A 17-year-old female was declared dead at the scene of the accident and her identity is being withheld from the public pending notification of her family.

Additionally, a 17-year-old male had to be transported to a local hospital and is reportedly suffering from critical injuries. His identity is yet to be confirmed.
