Police Get Tip in Pedestrian Accident Case

Police received a valuable tip last week in a hit-and-run accident in Ozaukee County. After a man heard about the accident on the news, he called the police to report that his relative had been the one driving the truck that struck an 82-year-old woman.

According to the sheriff's office, the 55-year-old male suspect was driving the truck under the influence of alcohol. He struck the elderly woman as she was walking along the street and then drove away. Police would have had trouble identifying the suspect without the tip since there was very little evidence to go on.

The woman is expected to survive from her injuries. As for the driver, he was charged with causing injury by intoxicated use of a motor vehicle in addition to other violations.
