Older Man Hurt on the Job

Police in North Carolina are still investigating the death of an older man that was killed on the job at a cotton gin.  The 62-year-old victim was last seen operating a forklift to move around bales of hay. When he was next seen, the man was lying on the floor with several bales of hay lying on top of him.

The stacks added up to weigh several hundred pounds, a weight that contributed to his death. The police department is working with several other agencies, including the state's Occupational Safety and Health Administration unit and the insurance company to investigate the victim's death.

It will take an estimated three to four months before the employer will learn about the results of the OSHA report. At that time, the employer could face penalty charges and be forced to pay worker's compensation to the family.

If you have recently been injured on the job then you may be wondering about worker's compensation.  To learn more about these benefits, take the time to speak with a personal injury attorney.
