Slip and Fall Lawsuit Makes Its Way to Court

Another slip and fall lawsuit finds its way into a courtroom this month, this time in Jefferson County.

Uyvonne Woodard, a resident of Port Arthur, has filed suit against Judice's French Market & Deli, blaming the business for her slip and fall accident. On April 1, 2009, Woodard attempted to retrieve an item on the floor when she "slipped on a clear, oily, liquid foreign substance on the floor and fell hard to the floor." The accident was reportedly so severe that she had to be removed from the store by emergency medical personnel.

Since Judice's failed to inspect and maintain its premises, as well as warn fellow shoppers of the dangerous situation and/or fix it, Woodard alleges neglect. She is suing for mental anguish and pain; disfigurement; lost wages; alleged past and future medical costs; and all court costs.
