Slip and Fall Lawsuit Filed Against WalMart

Walmart is at the center of yet another lawsuit, this time for a slip and fall injury in Colorado. Holly Averyt, 41, a truck driver for the region, said that she slipped and fell on a patch of grease and ice while making a delivery to the Walmart in Greeley. Her attorney, Gregory Gold, presented city documents in court that showed that grease from the store's deli was improperly disposed of, thus causing her subsequent injuries. The device that was supposed to divert the grease to a nearby sewer was found to not be working correctly.

Averyt has undergone three surgeries for her spine, delaying her return to work and ultimately causing the loss of her truck.

After hearing all of the evidence against the store, a Colorado jury awarded Averyt with $15 million which could prove to be one of the highest slip-and-fall payouts in the country.

Walmart has declined any further comments on the case, except to state that it will consider appealing the decision later on.

If you plan to file a slip and fall lawsuit, it is important that you hire a personal injury lawyer.
