Police Chief Involved in Car Accident

On Monday, Eureka Police Chief Garr Neilson was involved in a car accident during the afternoon hours.  Reports indicate that the accident occurred at the intersection of 7th and H streets at around 2:00 PM.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) said that Neilson was driving in the far left lane when a car suddenly turned in front of his vehicle, causing a collision to occur.  Neilson told the CHP that he tried to stop, but was unable to.

The CHP said that the driver of the other vehicle was a 20 year old female who was unaware that the road was a one-way.  She was trying to complete a right turn when she was hit by Neilson.  Thankfully, no one sustained major injuries.

If you have been involved in a car accident, now is the time to consult with a personal injury attorney that can review your case, determine if negligence was involved and advise you of your rights as a victim.
