Auto Accident Injures Local Officer

Last Thursday morning, a police officer from the city of Williamsburg had to be taken to a local hospital following an auto accident.  The collision allegedly occurred between two vehicles near the Colonial Williamsburg Visitor Center.

Andy Barker of the Williamsburg Police reported that a white Lexus crossover with plates from North Carolina ran through a stop sign at an intersection that was located at Route 132Y and Visitor Center Drive.  The car supposedly hit an unmarked Chevrolet SUV that was driven by an officer, causing the SUV to flip over.

At this time, the officer has yet to be identified.  However, it has been revealed that the officer was taken to Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center and that the accident will remain under investigation.
