Multiple People Involved in Truck Collision

An off-duty St. Mary's County Deputy, along with one other person, were injured in a truck accident on December 3 around 9 AM. Two vehicles, a white Ford pickup truck and a blue Toyota Camry were involved in the truck accident that happened on MD Route 235 at Old Rolling Road in California, Maryland.

Authorities believe that the driver of the pickup truck ran a red light causing it to hit the Camry. The driver of that car was the off-duty officer; he was rushed to St. Mary's Hospital shortly after. Witnesses to the accident saw one man flee from the pickup truck after collision. He supposedly dropped a bottle of prescription pills as he was running, turned around to retrieve them, and then fled in an unknown direction.

Police found a bag of what they believe to be marijuana in the pickup truck. The driver of the vehicle will undergo a sobriety test by a Drug Recognition Expert to see if he was under the influence of CDS.
