Wall Mounts Sold at Best Buy Have Been Recalled

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has recalled LCD television wall mounts, a product manufactured by Milestone AV Technologies and sold at Best Buy stores nationwide. The voluntary recall issued by the safety commission urges consumers who purchased a wall mount to immediately stop using the product until otherwise instructed.

According reports, the wall mount can crack when televisions are used that are 26 inches or larger and include a DVD player.  When the mount cracks, the television can fall, posing a risk of serious injury to consumers standing close by.

Milestone AV Technologies is aware of 28 incidents in which the mount has cracked, causing the television to fall. Fortunately no injuries have been reported.

The product safety commission estimates that approximately 140,000 units were sold at Best Buy stores nationwide from June 2007 through December 2008 for around $60-$90.  The wall mounts are used with flat screen LCD televisions. The recalled wall mounts are INIT models NT-TVM103 and NT-TVM104 (the model number is located on the UL sticker on the television interface).

If you have purchased a recalled wall mount, you are advised to stop using it at once and contact Milestone to receive a free repair kit. Milestone can be reached at (877) 277-3707 or at www.milestone.com/initmount.
