Illinois Couple Sue after DUI Accident

In Granite City, Illinois, a woman and her husband are suing a man for the injuries they sustained during a DUI accident.  Sharon and Charles Daniele claim that they were injured after the man crashed into them while driving under the influence.

The Danieles filed their lawsuit on April 16 in Madison County Circuit Court.  The defendant, Eric T. Carney, is being sued for an excess of $150,000.

The couple claims that Sharon was driving their vehicle on Mockingbird Lane on October 26.  At that time, Carney was turning left into a residential driveway, but he struck the Danieles.  Instead of checking to see if the Danieles were ok, Carney fled the scene of the accident on foot.  He was later found and arrested in Granite City.  Police charged him with DUI, failure to give aid, failure to yield turning left, leaving the scene of an accident, illegal transportation of alcohol and no insurance.

Sharon claims that after the accident, she incurred medical costs, pain and suffering, disability, increased risk of injury in the future, lost wages and adverse effects to her quality way of life.  She also claims that her vehicle sustained enormous damages which total just under $50,000.

The Danieles have filed a three count lawsuit and are hoping to receive a judgment of $150,000 and whatever other compensation the courts feel is appropriate.
