Pregnant Woman Dies in Fort Lauderdale Car Crash

Earlier this year, a pregnant woman who was vacationing at a hotel in Fort Lauderdale was killed when a driver lost control of her car. The pregnant woman was sitting by the hotel's pool in a cabana when the car crashed into it after jumping over a curb and sidewalk. The woman was seven months pregnant and died at the scene of the accident. The driver of the runaway car and the woman's husband were also injured and taken to the hospital. How the woman driver lost control of her vehicle is unknown. Law enforcement in the area began an investigation of the matter as a vehicular homicide.

Unfortunately, car accidents are a common occurrence in Florida as well as the rest of the nation and are the most likely scenario for a personal injury claim. Many of these accidents result in serious injuries or fatalities. In Florida, according to the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, half of all fatalities are associated with alcohol consumption. Per many studies, however, the leading cause of such accidents is driver error, which can include distraction due to cell phones and other devices, fatigue, inattention, violation of traffic laws, speeding, and other forms of negligence. Where a driver has been negligent which has led to unpredicted and undeserved injuries caused to another, the driver may be held legally accountable for damages connected to the accident.

Legal Help from a Coral Springs Personal Injury Firm

Being injured in an accident which never should have occurred in the first place can lead to runaway medical bills as well as a loss of income sustained due to an inability to work. These are unjust consequences for anyone to endure; the recovery of legal compensation to cover such economic losses as well as less easily quantifiable damages like pain and suffering should be assigned to an experienced attorney. The law firm of Weinstein & Scharf P.A. focuses its practice on personal injury cases and its attorneys have a combined 85 years of experience in doing so. Often, those so injured are offered less than what is deserved by insurance companies, which is why it is vital to engage the services of a reputable and aggressive law firm.
