Family of Motorcycle Accident Victim Voice Concern Over Missouri Drunk Driving

By Christopher Hoffmann  Mar. 11, 2014 8:51a

A family that has been tragically impacted by multiple drunk driving accidents now speaks up about the need for change. In 2011, Tyler Bronson’s parents and sister were all killed by drunk drivers - in two separate crashes. The accident that killed Bronson’s mother and sister occurred on July 5th when a driver, still intoxicated from the night before, caused a head on collision. The crash was severe and the driver’s blood alcohol level was significantly elevated. But sadly, this was not the only tragedy that occurred.

Bronson’s father, Buddy, was riding his motorcycle near Bannister and Wornall when he was hit at a high speed by a drunk driver who then proceeded to leave the scene of the accident.

Bronson was 22 years old at the time of his father’s death and describes making the hard choices regarding his dad’s funeral. “I was the one who had to view to then decide it had to be a closed casket because he was on a motorcycle and that gentleman hit him at a higher speed.”

The drunk driver was charged with leaving the scene of the accident and involuntary manslaughter. His trial will begin in April.

While they are called “accidents,” Bronson says this is a mischaracterization because there are choices and decisions that go into drinking and then getting behind the wheel. Drunk drivers make selfish choices that could easily result in the death of many others. Anyone sharing the road with drunk drivers is at risk, but motorcyclists especially are at an increased risk because their vehicles offer little to no protection in the event of an accident. Drunk drivers do not only take their own lives into their hands but the lives of everyone else who may be out on the road.

Bronson says that he will be at the courthouse in Jackson County where the drunk driver's trial will be held when the trial date comes.

St. Louis Motorcycle Accident Attorney

Victims of motorcycle accidents or their family members should contact a Missouri motorcycle accident attorney as soon as possible to discuss options following a Missouri crash. Not all accidents are the same, and motorcycle accidents must be handled by attorneys who have the expertise in seeking justice for accident victims and their families. Finding an experienced motorcycle accident attorney who can help families navigate these difficult times is crucial. Victims and their families may be entitled to damages for medical expenses, pain and suffering, and lost wages.

Drivers who cause accidents that injure others must be held accountable for their actions. Motorcycle accidents can be devastating and families deserve an attorney who can help them get the justice they deserve.
