Elderly Man Suffers Fatal injuries In Collision
A man lost his life after he was involved in a high-speed automotive collision on Tuesday, reports WKBW Eyewitness News.
As police continue to investigate the incident, some details begin to emerge about the recent New York state accident. According to the initial reports released by State police, the accident is believed to have occurred around 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 21st, 2011. At this time, local law enforcement officers received a call alerting them that a car collision had just happened in Lewiston.
Police officers arrived at the scene to discover that two cars had crashed on Saunders Settlement Road, between Garlow and Miller Road. Early reports indicate that the incident began when a 2001 Chevy Blazer being piloted southward by a 20-year old woman crossed over into the northbound lane. This caused the fatal collision, as the Blazer rammed into an oncoming 1996 Chevy Suburban.
In the aftermath of the tragic accident, all four people involved were hurt. The driver of the suburban, a 32-year old Niagara Falls native, was only lightly wounded, and taken to ECMC for treatment. Her passenger, an 82-year old man also from Niagara, was critically injured in the impact. He was transported to nearby Mount St Mary’s Hospital, where he shortly succumbed to the damage the crash had caused him.
The 20-year old in the Blazer was also taken swiftly to Mount St Mary’s and is currently listed as being seriously injured. A 6-month old baby that had been in the vehicle with her was placed in the car of the local Children’s Hospital for head and chest injuries.
Police are still unsure of the exact cause of the crash, and are waiting to press charges until more information comes to light.
