A Few Recent Product Liability Recalls to Be Aware Of

By Shoop Law  May. 9, 2011 12:00p

As consumers we need to be constantly alert for product defects in order to prevent injury to ourselves and family members. Products that we assume are safe are sometimes quite the opposite; a few recent examples will tell the tale.

  • Bristol Meyers Squibb Company is recalling a production lot of blood thinner (Coumadin) after discovering an oversized tablet.
  • Johnson & Johnson as well as other manufacturers of cold and fever medications have stated they will be discontinuing medicinal infant drops which contain acetaminophen for the purpose of avoiding confusion that could potentially lead to overdoses of the medication.
  • In certain cold weather states, Kia  is recalling over 58,000 Spectra compact cars due to faulty gas tanks that can fall to the ground and potentially cause fires. The recall specifically relates to the 2004-2007 Spectra LD Models.
  • Honda is expanding a recall of airbags to inspect an additional 833,000 for possible defects. There may be vehicles that have had faulty airbags installed after they were fixed following accidents.

Defective products can stem from poor design or manufacturing and when people get injured, regardless of the cause, they deserve compensation.
