Mom Faces DUI Charges In Santa Rosa

Crash injures Mother and Children

After an alleged argument with her husband, a mother crashed her vehicle into a guardrail, launching herself and two of her children from the car, Mercury News reports.

According to the report released by law enforcement officers, the crash occurred in the evening on Tuesday, March 1, on a road near the Sonoma County airport. Officers with the California Highway Patrol were the first to arrive on the scene, though eventually the children were transported to a local hospital by emergency response vehicles. CHP Officer Jonathan Sloat told reporters that the woman, a local resident of Santa Rosa, had been drinking before getting behind the wheel.

23-year old Christian Galvan was involved in a drunken argument with her husband, Sloat alleges, when she decided to drive off with the children in tow. She loaded her three kids into her Chevy SUV, and then tore off at high speed. At some point, she lost control of the car, crashing through a guardrail and rolling over before coming to rest in an embankment. Galvan was ejected forcefully from the car by the force of the impact, as was her 4-year old daughter and 6-year old son. The third child, only two, was securely fastened into a car seat.

Though none of the family members are currently in critical condition, the daughter had to be airlifted to the hospital for her severe wounds. Sloat told reporters that Galvan faces a charge of child endangerment in addition to the DUI charge. Her BAC level has not been reported.
