An as yet unidentified man driving a big rig was killed while driving his vehicle south on Interstate 35. The accident happened just before 9:00 am when a truck pulling a tractor trailer was reportedly side swiped by another 18-wheeler. The victim was in the right hand lane on the two lane highway when a truck in the left lane, also headed south, forced the victim's vehicle onto the shoulder as it was passing. The victim's truck hit the grassy, sloped shoulder and violently overturned. The truck and its trailer came to a rest on its right side leaving a lot of debris across the highway. The other truck thought to be involved in the wreck did not stop but continued southbound on the Interstate. The crash severely mangled the cab of the truck and fire rescue crews had difficulty gaining access to the victim who had died in the collision. Traffic was severely backed up while emergency crews arrived to clear lanes of turf, axles and other fragments that had been torn off the 18-wheeler. Authorities are trying to locate the other big rig involved in the hit and run incident. No other vehicles or injuries were involved in the crash that left one man dead. Make sure you have the help of a personal injury lawyer skilled in handling truck accidents if you or a loved one has been injured in a crash that was someone else's fault.
Trucking accidents can be complicated when it comes to determining fault. There are several parties involved in the safe operation of a single semi-truck, big rig, 18-wheeler or tractor trailer truck. While some cases may be more cut and dry, others may require a careful investigation into the exact circumstances of the wreck. Driver error, road conditions, neglected vehicle maintenance, incorrectly loaded or secured cargo, truck or trailer manufacture defects or any number of other specifics may have resulted in a severe injury or fatality accident.
