Woman Injured in Hot Air Balloon Crash

In America, we romanticize hot air balloon rides, and sailing above the ground in one of these large inflatables in an item on almost every bucket list. While hot air balloons can be an enjoyable cruise in the sky, there are times that they can be extremely dangerous. Recently, a woman who was injured in a hot air balloon crash across the oceans in Slovenia died. The accident had tragic results, now responsible for the deaths of 5 people. Police say that the hot air balloon was carrying 32 people for a panoramic tour of Slovenia when it was caught in a storm.

Harsh winds swept the balloon off course, and sent it plummeting towards the ground in a sudden drop. The accident occurred right outside of Ljubjana, killing four people at the scene. 27 people were injured in the crash. Observers say that the balloon hit the ground repeatedly before flying back up into the sky and then plummeting downwards towards a tree. It caught fire as it fell a final time, burning many of the occupants in the balloon. Authorities in Slovenia have chosen to ban hot air balloons for the time being a result of the serious incident.

While this happened in another country, hot air balloons are just as dangerous in the United States. Harsh winds or rains can send a balloon falling downwards, unable to weather the stormy conditions. If you have been injured in a hot air balloon accident, you may be able to sue for damages. The person who rented you your ride in the sky can often be held responsible for terrible injuries that occur.
