Sierra Towers Sued by Actress Joan Collins As Daughter Neglected After Fall

In an effort to protect her dynasty, former night time soap star Joan Collins has come to the aid of her daughter in filing a personal injury lawsuit against her condo association, for leaving the young woman unattended following a fall in the building's swimming pool, as reported by the Courthouse News Service.

The lawsuit has been filed in Superior Court alleging that Collins' daughter, K.K., suffered with a fractured eye socket due to the neglect by an employee of the condo association to K.K.'s injury and obvious pain.

Named in the suit are the manager and owner of the Sierra Towers, the Sierra Towers Condominium Association.

Joan Collins lives in the Sierra Towers, located in West Hollywood. In the suit Collins describes the building as "an exclusive high-rise condominium building that is the home of many Hollywood stars, music moguls, entertainment executives and other high-profile individuals…The building employs a large staff, including its own security personnel."

On January 24, 2012, while K.K. was residing with Collins, the security officer employed by the association, Mr. W., failed to assist the young woman properly after she reported feeling "lightheaded and faint" following a swim in the building's swimming pool.

According to the suit, K.K. told Mr. W. that prior to feeling ill that she had taken a fall and had stuck her head.

The complaint states, "Ms. (K.K.) was clearly not coherent and appeared to be in distress. Mr. (W.) then had Ms. (K.K.) sit in a nearby chair. However, rather than summon medical assistance. Mr. (W.) decided instead to escort Ms. (K.K.) to her mother's unit located on one of the upper floors of the building…"

At that moment, according to the suit, "He escorted her to the elevators, Mr. (W.) observed Ms. (K.K.) was in serious distress, as she was falling forward at the waist and having trouble standing, to the point where she had to lean against the hallway walls and the elevator wall for support. Arriving at the floor where Ms. Collins' condo was on, Mr. (W.) then escorted Ms. (K.K.) down the hallway to the door of the residence. Mr. (W.), knowing Ms. (K.K.) was still in no state to be standing on her own, turned his back on Ms. (K.K.), leaving her standing on her own. Ms. (K.K.) then fell face-first into the hallway wall, violently striking her left eye socket on the edge of the baseboard. She was rendered unconscious."

According to Collins, K.K. had received "multiple fractures of the orbital bones surrounding her eye" following her fall. To correct her injury surgeons at Cedars Sinai placed four metal plates into her orbital bones to secure them together.

Damages are sought for K.K.'s medical expenses, damages and for negligence. Attorney David Ring is representing mother and daughter in the suit.
