Nursing Home Subject of Wrongful Death Claim

Nursing home negligence and abuse is not a myth. A family of one man has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against a nursing home that failed to notify medical staff that he had fallen into a coma. The victim, 93-year-old W.W., was admitted to the health care center last March. At that time, he was in good health and was able to maintain "a pleasant conversation" with the doctor. About a month later the patient was still in good health; it was nearly two months later that he was being described as comatose.

It is believed that the patient was in a coma for at least two days before a doctor or the family was notified. By the time he got medical attention, W.W. was suffering profound kidney failure due to severe dehydration. He had lost over 20 pounds in less than two months. W.W. died last May just days after he was found to be comatose. If you or someone you know has been a victim of nursing home abuse, take the time to consult a personal injury attorney who can explain your legal options to you.
