Deer Plays Role in Motorcycle Crash

Even when you take the utmost precautions on a motorcycle, you cannot always predict obstacles in the road. Such was the case last week for a Rural Retreat man who was severely injured in a motorcycle accident when a deer crossed the roadway.

According to the police department, the 49-year-old man is in critical condition after the driver of the motorcycle he was riding swerved to avoid hitting the deer. The two men were heading west on a bypass when the animal dashed across the roadway. While the driver sustained minor injuries, his passenger has been hospitalized since last Thursday.

At this time, the driver has not been charged for the motorcycle accident. The incident is still under investigation.
