Young Man Gets 5 Years for Leaving Auto Accident Scene

A young man will now spend five years in jail for not only leaving the scene of a car accident, but accidentally killing someone as well.

According to the North Myrtle Beach police department, the 19-year-old North Carolina native was driving in South Carolina when he struck a 21-year-old woman attempting to cross the highway. When officers arrived on the scene, he had driven away, leaving the young woman to die on the road. Luckily, police were able to catch up with the young man and arrest him.

Over one year later, the young man entered a plea of guilty to the charge of hit and run with death. He was sentenced to five years, the recommendation of the judge since the prosecution did not enter a sentencing recommendation in this case.
