Slip and Fall Lawsuit Filed against Carnival

After slipping and falling on a Carnival cruise ship, one passenger has limped away with nearly $3 million in a personal injury lawsuit.

According to Denise Kaba, the injuries that she sustained on a Carnival cruise ship in 2009 were enough to cause serious damage, including a fractured knee cap. The culprit? A resin surface around the pool deck that made the walking area as hard and slippery as ice. Kaba went on to allege that Carnival had received several other complaints of a similar nature but had failed to fix the problem.

After returning home from the August 22, 2009 accident, Kaba sought an attorney and finally filed her slip and fall personal injury lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida. Her fractured patella necessitated six surgeries; in the future, Kaba's doctors have predicted one or two total knee replacements.
