Police Officer Loses Life during Motorcycle Accident

A community mourns the loss of a police officer who lost his life to a backhoe.

Officer Jimmy Brooks of Madison, Miss. was driving his personal motorcycle to pick up his police motorcycle when he was struck by a backhoe on U.S. Highway 51. The 60-year-old officer was rushed to the University of Mississippi Medical Center but was pronounced dead shortly after.

Brooks enrolled in the Vicksburg police force back in 1971 and was named police chief in 1989. He went on to retire in February 1992 but later took up work for an environmental cleanup firm before returning to work for the city of Vicksburg again. A few years later he moved over to Madison to accept an officer position there.

Have you recently been injured in a motorcycle accident? They can happen to anyone, but not everyone needs to suffer through unpaid medical bills and mountains of debt.  Instead of suffering, engage the services of a personal injury attorney near you.
