Police Continue to Investigate Motorcycle Accident

Police in Toms River are still investigating a serious motorcycle accident that happened on Fischer Boulevard and Hooper Avenue last week.

So far authorities know that 43-year-old Daniel Szpyt was riding his 2003 Honda motorcycle when it collided with the 2002 Volvo driven by Cynthia Pineda, 18. The teenager was heading west on Fischer Boulevard and attempting to make a left onto Hooper Avenue when the motorcycle struck her.

Both Szpyt and his passenger, 40-year-old Lisa Pizzelli, were injured in the motorcycle accident. When police first arrived on the scene both riders were unconscious on the pavement. He was taken to Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, for immediate treatment, while Pizzelli was brought to Community Medical Center, Toms River.

The accident caused a traffic buildup from 8 to 10 p.m. while officers continued their investigation and cleaned up the scene of the accident.
