Retired Marine Causes Drunk Driving Accident

The trial of a former marine who killed a recently retired man in San Diego began this week too much scrutiny. It is believed that Anthony Guarino, 57, was drunk when he caused the accident that killed 65-year-old Marc William Durham. The accident occurred on August 20, 2010 at the intersection of Camino del Norte and Carmel Mountain Road.

Guarino has been charged with a DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated. At this time Guarino has been released from prison on a $100,000 bail. He could face as much as 13 years in prison if convicted of these charges.

Sadly for the family of Durham, the former security guard had been retired for just one week before his death. He suffered injuries to his lung, spleen, diaphragm, rib fractures and a fractured spine. Durham leaves behind five children.
