Pedestrian Suffers Life Threatening Injuries in Topeka

On Saturday, a woman suffered life threatening injuries after she was hit by a car while walking across a crosswalk said Topeka police. The pedestrian accident took place on SW 10th and Mulvane.

Authorities are trying to determine the identity of the pedestrian who carried no identification on her body.  Police described the victim as being an "elderly white female."

Law enforcement and rescue workers were called to the scene of the accident at 5:34 PM. When they arrived they found the woman had been driving a car eastbound when she struck the victim who was walking in the crosswalk on the east side of the intersection.  Rescue workers rushed the pedestrian to a local hospital to receive treatment.

Investigators arrived at the scene and blocked off the intersection to gather evidence. At this time, no charges have been filed against the driver of the motor vehicle.
