Car Accident Takes Life of Student

Tragedy strikes Johnston County for the second time this week as another student lost his life.

A car accident took the life of 17-year-old Christopher Hayden Peedin who, according to the North Carolina Highway Patrol, was speeding. They believe that his car was going too fast to control, causing it to go airborne into a ditch culvert, hit a tree and then go belly-up in front of a house. The teenager was not wearing a seat belt.

Pictures taken at the scene of the car accident show the badly mangled condition of Peedin's 1997 Toyota truck as it was discovered by officers shortly after. The accident happened in the 8200 block of Hinant-Edgerton Road.

There are grief counselors available for students at North Johnston High School this week for students to speak with about the death of their classmate.
