San Diego Residents Experience Power Outage After Crash

Residents around San Diego may have experienced power outages as a result of a car that crashed into a transformer. The San Diego Gas and Electric Company believes that between 500 to 1000 customers lost power in Poway due to the car accident that occurred on Metate Lane and Pomerado Road early on Monday morning.

According to SDG&E spokesperson Michelle Nixon, emergency hazardous material crews were dispatched to the area to clean up the oil caused by the car accident. Since transformers contain a cooling oil that is flammable, the company was intent on cleaning up the spill before an even larger accident could occur.

At this time the driver has not yet been charged with anything.
