Teenage Boy Killed by Drunk Driver

A community is reeling after a teenage boy lost his life in a drunk driving accident.

His identity was finally revealed by Justice of the Peace Marc DeRouen to be 16-year-old Jesse Joseph Sawyer. Along with his friend, Sawyer was struck by a 2002 Toyota 4-Runner driven by another teen in the 3600 block of Cleveland Avenue. The second boy is currently in critical condition.

The driver, a 17-year-old male, was charged with intoxication assault and intoxication manslaughter. However, the Groves Police Department is not releasing the name of the suspect at this time. All calls to the police department regarding this case will be declined.
