Pedestrian Accident Leaves Man Critically Injured

Police responded to a pedestrian accident in Beaufort this week to find a critically-injured man. 

According to police reports the pedestrian, a 54-year-old Beaumont resident, was crossing 11th Street around 8:20 p.m. when he was struck by a 2004 Nissan Sentra. The vehicle was under the control of a 22-year-old woman. 

Eyewitness reports show that the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing and didn't appear to be paying attention to his surroundings. He was quickly transported to Christus Hospital St. Elizabeth ER, and is currently listed in critical but stable condition. He is awaiting surgery to treat the compound fractures that he suffered in both legs.
