Two Pedestrians Hit Oustide of Local Music Festival

This week, it was reported that a man died after being hit by a car outside of a local music festival.

Police say that two pedestrians, a man and a woman, were hit by a motor vehicle on Sunday morning.  The pedestrian accident occurred on Mersley Down Road, which is close to the Bestival event site.

Officers report that the collision occurred shortly after the evening is headliners The Flaming Lips had finished their set.  Both pedestrians received medical attention at the scene of the collision and were taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Newport.

Unfortunately, the hospital later pronounced the male victim died after succumbing to his accident related injuries.  Following the accident, a 33-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.
