Truck Driver and Two Passengers Killed during Accident

Early Saturday, it is reported that three people died and another had to be hospitalized after a major trucking accident took place in North Carolina.

A trooper from the North Carolina Highway Patrol said that the accident occurred at 2:29 AM when a Chevrolet pickup truck ran off the road, hit some posts in the churchyard, overturned and then rolled several times before coming to a stop.

The driver of the truck, Michael Eric Johnston, and his two passengers were ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene of the accident.  A third passenger had to be transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment and was later reported as being in stable condition.  Police say he was the only one wearing a seatbelt.
